Punjab’s AAP administration has achieved a major milestone by launching the Mukhya Mantri Sehat Yojana (MMSY), offering up to ₹10 lakh in free medical care annually to every family. The event in Mohali saw AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal and CM Bhagwant Mann inaugurate the program, transforming access to premium private healthcare for the poor.
This development cements Punjab’s position as a pioneer in social welfare, being the only state providing free healthcare alongside free power, education, and bus rides for women. Kejriwal criticized rival parties for their disarray, positioning AAP as the sole guardian of Punjab’s progress.
Beneficiaries received their health cards directly from the leaders at the ceremony. Kejriwal hailed the day as epoch-making, arguing such reforms should have happened in 1950. He reflected on decades of governmental neglect amid Punjab’s struggles with militancy and narcotics.
Campaign trails featured bold assurances, including healthcare guarantees that doubters dismissed. Defying odds, AAP’s tenure has seen explosive growth in grassroots clinics: 1,000 operational and 500 in pipeline, dwarfing past efforts by Akali Dal, BJP, and Congress combined.
CM Mann invoked Guru’s wisdom to underline the scheme’s universal coverage for 3 crore people across 65 lakh households. This initiative not only alleviates financial burdens but also exemplifies how committed governance can redefine public health nationwide.
