Mumbai Language Clash: Jay Madan Calls for Bridges, Not Battles

Tensions simmer in Mumbai over language mandates, but celebrity astrologer Jay Madan is pitching a message of reconciliation. Speaking at the Mumba Devi temple yatra, he highlighted the need to transform language from a divider into a unifier, even as Shiv Sena’s Shaina NC defended Marathi honor.

Paying homage to the city’s patron goddess, Madan said, ‘Mumba Devi’s name echoes in Mumbai’s identity. Her temple is essential for newcomers chasing dreams here. Respecting local traditions strengthens our bond with the land that nurtures us.’

On the Marathi controversy sparked by Mira-Bhayandar’s rule for auto drivers, Madan advocated tech-savvy solutions. ‘State languages matter deeply,’ he acknowledged. ‘Yet, with AI and translation apps at our fingertips, understanding any dialect is simple. Let’s celebrate languages as connectors, steering clear of disputes.’

Shaina NC countered with fervor, invoking legal backing. ‘Marathi defines us—it’s in the Motor Vehicles Act that drivers must communicate in it for passenger ease,’ she stated. Dismissing political opportunism as ‘dada-giri,’ she celebrated growing Marathi adoption statewide.

Responding to concerns tied to Baba Bageshwar’s population comments, NC underlined societal vigilance. ‘India’s security demands balance and awareness. RSS fosters patriotism, urging collective efforts for the nation’s future.’

This flare-up follows the directive enforcing Marathi knowledge for transport services, igniting partisan clashes. Supporters see cultural preservation; detractors fear migrant exclusion. Madan’s plea for linguistic harmony offers a timely antidote to polarization in India’s commercial capital.
