The August 15th episode of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 17’ was truly historic. On this special occasion, three brave daughters of the nation – Colonel Sofia Qureshi of the Indian Army, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh of the Indian Air Force, and Commander Prerna Deosthali of the Indian Navy – were seen on the hot seat.
In this episode of KBC, these three women warriors not only shared stories of their valor but also played the quiz game brilliantly and won a sum of ₹25 lakhs. Their journey reached the ₹50 lakh question, but due to the buzzer indicating the end of time, Amitabh Bachchan had to stop the game.
The final question asked to Colonel Sofia Qureshi, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, and Commander Prerna Deosthali was quite interesting. To answer this question, they had to seek help from the audience. The question was: ‘The ‘Arch of Remembrance’ in Leicester, England, was designed by the same person who designed which of these Indian monuments?’ The options were: A) Victoria Memorial, B) Gateway of India, C) Fort St. George, D) India Gate. The three were confused about the answer and therefore used the audience poll lifeline, and with their help, they gave the correct answer. The correct answer to this question was ‘India Gate’ (Option D).
In fact, the ‘Arch of Remembrance’ located in Leicester, England, was designed by the famous British architect Sir Edwin Lutyens, who also designed India’s national monument, ‘India Gate,’ located in Delhi.
Though these women warriors could not cross the ₹50 lakh mark, they created a new history by winning ₹25 lakhs. For the first time in the history of KBC, not one or two but three female officers of the Indian Army sat on the hot seat and interacted with Amitabh Bachchan. During this, they not only narrated stories of their bravery but also spoke openly about women’s empowerment and the role of women in the army. They are going to donate the ₹25 lakhs won in this show to the welfare funds associated with their institutions.
