The who’s who of Indian entertainment and politics converged at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park for Asha Bhosle’s final farewell. The iconic playback singer’s state funeral, scheduled post-3 PM, drew tears and tributes from stars who grew up on her melodies.

Emotional scenes unfolded with Tabu and veteran actress Asha Parekh struggling to hold back tears. Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar arrived to honor the melody queen, joined by Riteish Deshmukh, Uddhav Thackeray family, Governor CP Radhakrishnan, and music stalwarts like Uttam Singh and Leslie Lewis.

In a poignant interview, Uttam Singh reflected, ‘With Lata Ji gone, Asha Ji’s departure feels like the sun and moon vanishing. Their irreplaceable talent has left music orphaned forever.’

Politician Arvind Sawant reminisced, ‘Asha and Lata’s evergreen songs shaped our lives. Despite immense personal hardships, their voices remained pure joy.’ Leslie Lewis, who collaborated extensively with her, said, ‘A national treasure is lost; my songs with her are my proudest achievements.’

Sanjay Narvekar praised her life lessons: ‘She showed how to embrace life with grace.’ Comparing her to Lata Mangeshkar, he noted their distinct styles made both eternal. Singer Sadhana Sargam declared, ‘Asha Ma’s music era ends today—no one can touch her genius.’

As the nation bids adieu, Asha Bhosle’s legacy—over 12,000 songs spanning decades—continues to resonate, ensuring her voice echoes eternally.
