Actor Ninad Kamat, in a candid interview, discussed the genre’s potential in Indian cinema. Director Akhil’s vision felt innovative right from rehearsals, with the cast sensing they were onto a winner. ‘We were building something truly distinctive,’ Kamat recalled.
The role pushed Kamat out of his comfort zone. His character revels in addiction, clashing with his personal aversion to narcotics. ‘Reconciling real life with fiction was challenging,’ he explained. ‘But to authentically depict that elite party crowd who live like deities, it was essential.’ This internal conflict enriched his portrayal.
Kamat fondly referenced ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron’ as his all-time favorite, marveling at Satish Kaushik’s comedic genius around a dead body. ‘Few films match that brilliance,’ he noted. ‘Candy and the Pizza Girl’ honors that tradition while infusing contemporary elements and a bold new taste.
As a spectator, Kamat admired Akhil’s straightforward approach.
