Actor Aamir Khan has addressed the public reaction to his delayed response to the Pahalgam terror attack of April 22nd, which resulted in casualties. In an interview, Khan discussed the emotional impact of the tragedy and explained the reason behind his later statement compared to others in the industry.
Describing the incident as “cruel” and “cowardly,” Khan denounced the perpetrators, stating, “The terror attack was cruel. It only demonstrates the terrorists’ cowardice that they entered our country and fired bullets on common men. You or I could’ve also been there. They asked their religion and then fired bullets. What does that mean?” He emphasized that his lack of an immediate social media post did not indicate a lack of concern.
Khan also acknowledged India’s military response, noting, “That was an attack not only on our nation, but also on our unity. They’ve already got a befitting response from our country.” Furthermore, Khan asserted that these terrorists cannot be considered Muslims, saying, “No religion asks you to kill people. I don’t consider these terrorists Muslims because it’s written in Islam that you can’t kill any innocent human, can’t strike a woman or a child. They’re going against the religion by doing what they are doing.”
In other news, Khan’s upcoming film faces a hurdle. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has reportedly requested cuts, which Khan has refused, citing the creative integrity of the project. He is expected to meet with the CBFC Examining Committee to resolve the issue. The film, directed by R.S. Prasanna and starring Genelia Deshmukh, is a remake of the Spanish film Champions (2018) and is slated for release on June 20, 2025.
