A new era dawns for Andhra Pradesh’s technology sector. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is scheduled to inaugurate the foundation laying ceremony for Google’s state-of-the-art AI data center in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday, April 28.

This $15 billion investment marks a historic milestone, emerging as one of India’s biggest foreign direct investments ever. The expansive 600-acre complex in Tharluwada, Adaviram, and Rambilli will feature 1 gigawatt of power capacity, transforming the port city into a global AI powerhouse.

With advanced cloud services and massive data storage, the facility will leverage upcoming subsea cable connectivity for direct international digital access. Visakhapatnam’s strategic coastal position perfectly suits it for submarine cable landings, enhancing its appeal to tech giants.

Key partners including Adani Connex and Airtel NXTRA are integral to the project. The state government’s long-term vision includes developing a 6.5 gigawatt multi-gigawatt digital infrastructure network across Andhra Pradesh.

Job creation stands out as a major highlight, with opportunities in AI development, maintenance, cybersecurity, and data analytics expected to employ thousands. This influx of talent and revenue will supercharge local economy, drawing AI-based companies, startups, research institutions, and semiconductor players.

Sustainability remains a priority, with assured green energy provisions. As global firms zero in on Visakhapatnam, projects like the Bhogapuram airport will amplify its international stature, establishing the city as a beacon of technological excellence and innovation hub for Asia.
