Tesla is bolstering its foothold in India’s electric vehicle market with the upcoming launch of its second retail center. The new Tesla Experience Centre is scheduled to open on August 11th at the WorldMark 3 campus in Aerocity, Delhi. This location will cater to customers in the National Capital Region, a key area for EV adoption in India. The Aerocity center’s opening follows the recent inauguration of the first showroom on July 15th at the Maker Maxity Mall in Mumbai. Construction of the Aerocity center is nearing completion, with the monthly rent estimated to be around Rs 25 lakh. Images of the outlet have been shared on social media, showcasing the brand’s premium image. Currently, Tesla offers only the Model Y in India, with prices beginning at Rs 59.89 lakh (ex-showroom). The Model Y is available in a Standard rear-wheel drive variant featuring a 60 kWh battery with a 500 km WLTP-certified range, and a Long-range rear-wheel drive version equipped with a 75 kWh battery, offering a range of up to 622 km. Deliveries are initially prioritized for customers in cities like Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, and Gurugram, with vehicles delivered directly to homes via flat-bed trucks. Tesla has also updated its website to facilitate vehicle registration across all states and union territories, broadening its reach. The Full Self-Driving (FSD) feature is listed as an optional upgrade on the website, priced at Rs 6 lakh, though its rollout in India is planned for a later date. The Model Y launch also marks the debut of Tesla’s India website, demonstrating the company’s commitment to expanding its operations in India, despite existing challenges related to EV policies and infrastructure.
