Tata Motors has updated its Harrier range for 2025 with the new mid-spec Adventure X and Adventure X Plus derivatives, offering a compelling package at a competitive price point. This model goes head-to-head with the Hyundai Creta SX(O) diesel variant in the Indian market. Both SUVs are excellent choices for customers seeking a robust diesel model without excessive luxury. This comparison will examine the specifications, features, and pricing of the Harrier Adventure X and the Hyundai Creta SX(O) to highlight their key differences.
In terms of dimensions, the Tata Harrier Adventure X is significantly larger than the Hyundai Creta. With a length of 4,605 mm, a width of 1,922 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,741 mm, the Harrier offers more cabin space in every direction compared to the Creta’s 4,330 mm length, 1,790 mm width, and 2,610 mm wheelbase.
The Harrier Adventure X is powered by a 2.0-liter diesel engine producing 170 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque. This engine is available with both 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions. The Creta SX(O) diesel, on the other hand, features a smaller 1.5-liter diesel engine that delivers 116 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque. It also offers both manual and automatic transmission options.
Both SUVs are equipped with features such as LED headlights, a panoramic sunroof, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital driver display, six airbags, ISOFIX mounts, a 360-degree camera, and Level-2 ADAS safety features.
The Creta SX(O) has an edge when it comes to features, offering ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, an 8-way adjustable driver seat, wireless charging for phones, and a cooled glovebox, features not available in the Harrier Adventure X. Tata counters this with a slightly wider road footprint, black leatherette trim with tan accents, and a 6-way adjustable driver seat.
The prices are comparable, but not identical. The Harrier Adventure X range starts at an ex-showroom price of Rs 18.99 lakh, slightly less than the Creta SX(O) diesel range, which starts at Rs 19.05 lakh. However, the Creta has an advantage in the automatic version, with its diesel automatic version priced at Rs 20 lakh, while the Harrier Adventure X automatic version is priced at Rs 20.69 lakh.
