The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) neutralized Ashish Ranjan, also known as Chhotu Singh, a notorious criminal from Jharkhand, in an encounter late Wednesday night in Prayagraj district. Ranjan was a history-sheeter and a prominent figure in the Dhanbad crime scene, facing numerous serious charges across Jharkhand, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh. These charges included murder, extortion, robbery, and attempted murder. He was considered a close associate and shooter of the infamous gangster Aman Singh, and was implicated in Singh’s murder. Aman Singh was shot dead in Dhanbad jail on December 3, 2023. Following the killing, Ashish Ranjan, or Chhotu Singh, took responsibility for the murder through a video circulated on social media.
