A stormy session in Rajasthan Assembly on Wednesday highlighted deep political divides, with abusive language from Congress veteran Shanti Dhariwal stealing the spotlight. During discussions on the Governor’s speech, the former Urban Development Minister lashed out at youth joblessness and skill training failures, using words that crossed the line of decency.
‘If crores of youth aren’t skilled for jobs, our growing population will become a national liability,’ Dhariwal thundered. Chief Whip Jogeshwar Garg fired back slyly: ‘Everyone in India is employed except one young man.’ Dhariwal’s riposte included expletives, prompting Garg to decry it as ‘unparliamentary conduct per his old habits’ and seek its deletion.
The Chair swiftly expunged the remarks, recalling Dhariwal’s history of such incidents followed by apologies. Meanwhile, tribal voices amplified grievances. BAP’s Anil Katara blasted the BJP government for destroying forests, seizing lands, and flouting reservation rules in hires, reiterating calls for a Bheel state and warning of mass agitations.
Congress’s Ramila Khadiya targeted TAD Minister over coordinator dismissals without notice, nepotistic postings outside TSP areas, salary delays, and substandard anganwadi food. The minister countered with an offer for an inquiry panel led by Khadiya. The day’s disruptions began early in question time, escalating with Urban Minister Jhabar Singh Kharra facing barbs on PMAY and homeless families. Finally, the house was prorogued till 11 AM Thursday amid unrelenting pandemonium.
