In a meticulously planned operation, Dwarka South Police Station in Delhi arrested Mushtaq, a 33-year-old resident of Mathura, wanted since 2018 in a brazen mobile-based fraud case. The arrest on February 28 ends a prolonged manhunt for the proclaimed offender who duped a victim of Rs 25,998 through deceptive Paytm transactions.

Mushtaq’s scheme involved posing as a legitimate contact via mobile, coaxing the complainant into sharing payment details. Once the case was filed, he went underground, ignoring summons and disrupting investigations, which prompted the court to label him a fugitive.

Acting on DCP Dwarka’s orders, SHOs and ACPs assembled targeted teams. SI Rajat Malik’s unit from Sector-10 Dwarka, comprising ASI Sanjeev Kumar, ASI Mulk Raj, and HC Mukesh Kumar Kuldeep, took charge of Mushtaq’s pursuit.

Combining tech surveillance with human intelligence from informants, the team shadowed his patterns. They anticipated his court visit for hearing updates and primed the court staff for quick alerts.

Vigilance paid off as staff identified him on-site, triggering an immediate response. Officers nabbed him swiftly and silently, ensuring no escape. He now faces charges under applicable laws, with further proceedings underway.

This success highlights the efficacy of inter-agency collaboration and persistent policing in tackling mobile fraud, a rising menace in urban India. Authorities vow to intensify such drives to safeguard citizens from digital deceit.
