The makers of ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’, the sequel to 2025’s smash hit ‘Dhurandhar’, are in hot water with Mumbai’s BMC. Multiple safety rule violations on set have triggered a recommendation to blacklist Aditya Dhar’s B62 Studios, halting future shoots via the state filming portal.

Details of the infractions paint a picture of reckless filming practices. In a sensitive high-security area, the crew lit flaming torches, leading to a police raid and equipment confiscation. Unauthorized location changes, rooftop shoots without permits, on-site gas cooking, and unlicensed generator operations further fueled the complaints.

BMC’s swift response included seizing the Rs 25,000 deposit and proposing a Rs 1 lakh penalty. The A-Ward office’s letter to the Deputy Municipal Commissioner seeks a blanket ban, signaling a broader push to enforce discipline in Mumbai’s chaotic production landscape.

Helmed by Aditya Dhar—who writes, directs, and co-produces alongside Jio Studios—the film boasts Ranveer Singh leading a stellar ensemble: Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi. This spy action thriller gears up for a March 19 theatrical rollout across five languages: Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.

As anticipation builds for its high-octane narrative, the controversy highlights the tightrope walk between creative freedom and regulatory compliance. Will this derail the sequel’s momentum, or will it emerge stronger from the scrutiny?
