As India was scratching its head over a cryptic tweet by Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying he may soon go on a social media detox, the prime minister has finally cleared the air behind his decision.
And it is all about celebrating women on the occasion of Women’s Day.
Taking to Twitter a day after the internet-breaking declaration, PM Modi said, “This Women’s Day, I will give away my social media accounts to women whose life and work inspire us.”
PM Modi also unveiled a new campaign to honour inspiring women from all walks of life. Using #SheInspiresUs, the prime minister asked people to share stories of women who inspire them. A select few women will be chosen to run PM Modi’s social media accounts on Women’s Day (March 8).
Sending social media into a tizzy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said he is contemplating giving up social media presence.
“This Sunday, thinking of giving up my social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & YouTube. Will keep you all posted,” he tweeted from the handle @narendramodi.
