The girls surpassed the boys in the Gold medal tally of Convocation of Pt Ravishankar Shukla University (PRSU) which organised its 25th Convocation at Pt Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium in Raipur on Wednesday. Out of 67 Gold medals distributed among meritorious students, 42 medals went to girl students. Similarly, the women surpassed the men as far Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees are concerned. Out of 152 PhD degrees, 103 degrees were awarded to women students. Governor and Chancellor Anusuiya Uikey presided over the convocation and she distributed medals and degrees to the students. Similarly, B Pharmacy student Sheetal Yadav, BEd student Bhuneshwari Verma, MA 4th semester student Kshyama Sharma and MA 4th semester student Makardhwaj earned four medals each. MSc 4th semester student Chitralekha Sahu, MSc 4th semester student Akshay Namdev, B Lib S C final year student Aruna Sahu, BALLB student G Kalyani, M Com 4th sem student Guptesh Namdev, MA 4th sem student K Deepti, LLB final student Kriti Agrawal, MSc Math student Panchram, MSc 4th sem student Seema Thakur, MCom final student Shreya Bhosle, MSc Home Science student Tejeshwari Sahu and MA 4th sem student Yogyam Pradhan earned three medals each. Other gold medalists are Pinky, Rahul Sahu, Shivani, Suman Chandra, Jitendra, Vikas Dwivedi, Anupama Tiwari, Khushbu Parveen, Ankita, Kavita Sinha, Nikita Sarawagi, Mamta Verma, Navin Kumar Tamrakar, Pratiksha Tiwari and Khem Lal ( two Chandel (two gold medals each). Deepika, Manish Kumar, Shubhashini Singh Thakur, Rahul Daswani, Ashi Rajesh Agrawal, Kumari Deepika, Himanshu Panda, Poonam Mishra, Oshin Bajrang and Labhesh Baid earned one medal each. Similarly, 22,448 students were given degrees while 9049 were given post graduate degrees. Vajpeyi said that the time has come for the degree/medal holders for reality check. “Today ignorance has overpowered knowledge and therefore students must be very careful while stepping into the world outside their alma mater,” said Vajpeyi. A prayer is accepted by God when it is prayed for others similarly a dream is big when it is dreamt for others, said Vajpeyi. Higher Education Minister Umesh Patel said that the state government has initiated process to fill the vacant posts of teachers in the colleges and universities of the state. PRSU Vice-Chancellor Dr K L Verma and Registrar Dr G K Pandey were also present on the dais. ‘Come out of WhatsApp, Facebook’: Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel appealed youths to come out of WhatsApp and Facebook universities. These universities are engaged in misleading the people. There are a lot of positive things happening outside, but youths today are misled through social media, the CM said. He appealed the students to contribute to build a new Chhattisgarh.
