CM writes letter to NITI Aayog for fixing attractive selling price for bio-ethanol and to remove the mandate of approval every year

Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has written letter to NITI Aayog with a request to fix an attractive selling price for bio-ethanol (produced from additional paddy procured in the state) so as to promote its sale. Mr. Baghel has also requested that the mandate of taking approval from Union Agriculture Ministry every year for production of bio-ethanol should be dissolved as it is impractical. Chief Minister has requested NITI Aayog to take necessary action on both these points at Central Government level in larger interest of the farmers.

Chief Minister has stated in the letter to NITI Aayog that under National Bio-Fuel Policy-2018 and Chhattisgarh’s Industrial Policy, the decision has been taken to promote establishment of bio-ethanol plants with the additional paddy procured in the state. Private investment is also being invited by Industry Department for establishing bio-ethanol plants in the state. But to attract private investment in this area, it is important that the selling price of bio-ethanol is attractive and it is also necessary that the mandate of annual approval for its production should be dissolved.
Chief Minister Mr. Baghel further stated in the letter requesting Union Petroleum Minister that the price of bio-ethanol produced from paddy should be kept at par with the rates of ethanol produced from syrup, sugar and sugar syrup.
