Cong govt should seek apology from ‘Democracy Warriors’: Kaushik

Leader of Opposition Dharamlal Kaushik welcomed the order of the Chhattisgarh High Court to restore ‘honorarium’ provided by the BJP government to the ‘Democracy Warriors’ (MISA detainees).

Congress government stopped the payment since February 2019.

Now, after the order government should pay the total pending amount and in future should refrain from such action, he said, terming the court order victory of democracy.

Kaushik said due to vindictive politics, Congress government after coming to power had stopped the release of ‘Samman Nidhi’ (honorarium), pension amount and health facilities to MISA detainees. The state government has insulted them, he said, accusing the government of continuously indulging in anti-people and anti-democratic works.

BJP leader said different political parties opposing the Congress had formed a government at the Centre and states and had strengthened democracy. But, those who fought for “freedom” after independence were neglected, he alleged.

The issue of restoration of honorarium was raised even in the House but nothing was done, said Kaushik. The Chief Minister Bhupesh baghel should seek an apology for this, he added.
