Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Sunday that former Congress leader Manturam Pawar’s confession recently in a court here has proved that his predications regarding a huge financial dealings in Antagarh by-polls was absolutely correct.

“My allegations regarding bribery to allow the Congress candidate to pull out from the electoral fray have found to be genuine,’’ Baghel said in a tweet.

“My doubts about murder of democracy through a planned conspiracy proved correct, the law will take its own course against the conspirators,’’ Baghel further said which is a clear hint of government’s intent to open a lengthy legal fight against the former chief ministers- Ajit Jogi and Raman Singh.

The leaked Antagarh audio tapes had a conversation of Ajit Jogi, Amit Jogi, Puneet Gupta among others of poll fixing in assembly by-polls 2014.

Earlier, Manturam on Saturday recorded his statement under section 164 before a local court here and levelled serious allegations against Raman Singh and Ajit Jogi as well as against former minister Rajesh Munat and Amit Jogi.

Notably, Manturam had at the last moment withdrawn his nomination as Congress candidate in Antagarh by-polls in 2014 which paved way for a walkover for the then BJP candidate Bhojraj Nag.

Meanwhile while commenting on recent recorded statement of main accused of Antagarh tape case Manturam Pawar, media in-charge of Janta Congress Chhattisgarh – Jogi (JCC-J), Iqbal Ahmed Rizvi said on Sunday that Manturam had a track record of offering contradictory statements.

In a statement, Rizvi said that earlier in Chhattisgarh High Court Bilaspur, Manturam had stated that allegations of taking bribe were incorrect and the High Court had then granted bail to Manturam.

“Now a question arises here which statement of Manturam could be considered true,’’ Rizvi said.
