Rahul Dravid Gets Conflict of Interest Notice From BCCI Ethics Officer

The Conflict of Interest has hit the headlines once again as former India captain Rahul Dravid has become the latest name to get notice from BCCI’s Ethics Officer on the allegations levelled against him. BCCI’s Ombudsman-cum-Ethics Officer Justice (Retd) DK Jain has sent a notice after receiving a complaint from Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) life member Sanjeev Gupta.

As per the complaint, Dravid is allegedly conflicted as he is the National Cricket Academy Director and also employed as vice-president of India Cements group. The company owns Indian Premier League franchise Chennai Super Kings. Justice Jain has given Rahul Dravid a couple of weeks to reply to the notice.

“Yes, I have sent a notice to Mr Rahul Dravid last week after receiving a complaint. He has been given two weeks to reply to the allegations of Conflict of Interest. Based on his reply, I will decide whether to proceed further or not,” Justice Jain was quoted as saying by India Today.

It is expected that Dravid will have to file his reply by August 16. Following that, the legendary batsman is also likely to appear for an in-person hearing if Justice Jain deems it important. Before this latest incident, Sanjeev Gupta had headlines earlier too for similar reasons.

He is the same person, who had also filed similar Conflict of Interest complaints against Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman. Gupta had alleged that Tendulkar and Laxman violated the rules with their dual roles as Cricket Advisory Committee member as well as mentor/icon of IPL teams. Tendulkar is associated with Mumbai Indians while Laxman is associated with Sunrisers Hyderabad.
