Housing and Environment Minister asked for making online arrangements for monitoring of the Industries as he reviewed the works of all the Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board (CECB) regional officers on Tuesday.CECB Member Secretary R P Tiwari gave briefing of the Board’s activities after introducing the regional officers to the Minister Mohammad Akbar. Regional officers of Raipur, Bilaspur, Durg-Bhilai, Raigarh, Korba, Jagdalpur and Ambikapur also gave briefing to the Minister.
In the second meeting within a month, Minister Akbar directed the officials to expedite their work and ensure legal actions on industries flouting the environment laws and update the online system to keep tab on the industries. The Standard Operating Procedures for controlling the pollution must be complied with strictly. He also asked Regional Officers to ensure that coal
burning at Bio-mass plant shouldn’t exceed the limit prescribed by CREDA.
Analysing the plantation status, Mohammad Akbar asked officers to inspect the plantation undertaken by the big industries within 15 days. It must also be taken care of that transportation from coal washery doesn’t create pollution. Fly ash should be utilised to maximum by filling them up at open mines. He asked Korba Regional officer to issue direction to BALCO for dumping fly ash into the Chotiya mine. Minister admired the RDF plant for disposal of Solid Waste Management installed by Bilaspur Municipal Corporation.
