A powerful 6.7 magnitude earthquake has struck the Papua province of Indonesia. The tremor was detected by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) on Thursday. The quake’s epicenter was situated approximately 200 kilometers from Abepura, a significant urban center in the region. Fortunately, authorities have confirmed that no tsunami warning has been issued following the seismic event. The earthquake occurred at a depth of about 70 kilometers (43.5 miles) below the Earth’s surface, mitigating immediate concerns of widespread coastal impact. The specific coordinates for the tremor were 2.31 degrees south latitude and 138.86 degrees east longitude.
