Cheers echoed through Congress offices in Delhi and Thiruvananthapuram on Monday as initial counting trends from Kerala’s Assembly elections favored the United Democratic Front (UDF). Congress, the alliance’s anchor, was ahead on 56 constituencies by midday, sparking an outburst of festivities.

At the All India Congress Committee headquarters, crowds of loyalists thronged the gates, hoisting party banners and reveling to traditional drumbeats. The upbeat mood stemmed from projections suggesting a potential rout of the incumbent LDF.

Back in the state capital, the scene was equally vibrant. Leaders and cadres sliced into celebratory cakes amid flashing cameras, with top brass overseeing every trend update.

MM Hassan, a prominent Congress figure, was bullish on the results. ‘Trends are looking great for UDF. We’ll surpass 100 seats soon,’ he predicted confidently to the media.

AP Anil Kumar highlighted the consistency in voter support. ‘From Lok Sabha to local bodies, the wave is with us. Majority is assured,’ he declared.

MP JB Mather went further, calling it a ‘resounding public verdict’ against the Vijayan regime. ‘Kerala has spoken clearly in favor of UDF,’ he said.

With leads holding firm, the party’s rank and file stayed energized. The UDF, comprising Congress, IUML, Kerala Congress (Joseph), Kerala Congress (Jacob), and RSP, has effectively challenged LDF dominance over multiple election cycles.

These developments signal a pivotal shift, bolstering Congress’s regional stature and setting the stage for governance focused on development and inclusivity.
