In a brazen act of communal violence, Zubair Ansari attacked two security guards with a knife in Mumbai’s Mira Road suburb, targeting them for their Hindu identity and failure to chant the Kalma. The April 28 incident in Nayan Nagar has thrust Maharashtra politics into turmoil, with Minister Nitesh Rane leading the charge for tough action.

Speaking to reporters, Rane lambasted the area’s residents. ‘Nayan Nagar folks behave like jihadis, aiming to create a little Pakistan through love jihad and land grabs,’ he charged. Referencing the Pulwama tragedy’s horrors—where terrorists mocked victims with sindoor and Kalma—he called for an ‘Operation Sindoor’ to root out extremist elements.

‘Decisive steps are needed to eliminate the jihadi mentality,’ Rane insisted, accusing certain groups of sabotaging local harmony. The ATS has taken over, uncovering radical materials including ISIS propaganda at Ansari’s residence. His family in America is under scrutiny via diplomatic channels.

Rane extended his commentary to national issues, backing RSS centenary programs against Jamia protests. ‘India is a Hindu rashtra, and RSS represents authentic patriotism after a century of service,’ he proclaimed.

This episode underscores deepening rifts in Maharashtra’s urban fringes. While Rane’s rhetoric rallies his base, it risks escalating tensions. Security has been beefed up in Mira Road, and authorities promise impartial investigation. Yet, the debate rages: Is bold speech the antidote to radicalism, or does it fan the flames?
