TEHATTA, WEST BENGAL: Union Home Minister Amit Shah rallied supporters in Tehatta on April 26, painting a vivid picture of a transformed West Bengal under BJP governance. He claimed the first phase of elections has already delivered a knockout blow to TMC, with BJP leading on 110 of 152 seats. ‘Bengal’s people have made up their minds for change,’ Shah stated, predicting a full sweep in subsequent phases to form the next government.

In a major crowd-puller, Shah announced game-changing financial aid. From May onwards, Rs 3,000 will be credited monthly to every woman’s account in the state. Jobless youth will receive identical support to ease unemployment woes. For maternal health, Rs 21,000 assistance will be given to pregnant women, ensuring better nutrition and childcare.

The minister slammed Mamata Banerjee’s administration for farmer distress, spotlighting garlic cultivators hit hard by smuggled Chinese imports through Bangladesh. Local garlic languishes at Rs 12/kg against Rs 200 in other markets. BJP, he vowed, would seal borders against fakes and guarantee minimum support prices.

Addressing Tehatta’s grievances, Shah targeted the incomplete Jalangi River bridge, accusing TMC of deliberate delays. Completion within two years is assured under BJP. But the boldest vow was against TMC’s ‘syndicate raj’—all such networks will be eradicated the moment BJP assumes power on May 5. Robust policing will curb rowdyism, restoring peace and progress to the state.
