In a refreshing display of commitment to public health, Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya spearheaded the ‘Sunday on Cycle’ ride along Srinagar’s Dal Lake this Sunday, reinforcing the Fit India campaign’s core message. Accompanied by state and central dignitaries including Raksha Khadse and Satish Sharma, the event blended scenic beauty with a strong fitness advocacy.
Mandaviya, on a three-day Jammu & Kashmir visit, used the occasion to highlight national efforts. ‘For any nation to prosper, its people must prioritize health. Fit individuals build healthy communities, essential for a Viksit Bharat,’ he told reporters after cycling with enthusiasts.
The program forms part of a massive weekly rollout at more than 16,000 sites nationwide every Sunday. Preceding the ride, Mandaviya participated in a chintan shivir focused on revamping India’s sports infrastructure via integrated strategies, reforms, policy alignment, and on-ground execution.
Local warmth welcomed delegations from across states, creating an upbeat vibe. Lt Governor Manoj Sinha’s presence at the shivir added weight, as he lauded ambitions to make India a sports superpower. These events not only promote physical activity but also unite communities in the pursuit of national wellness goals, setting a pedal-powered example for sustainable health practices.
