Raigad district police is witnessing a major shake-up as six officers from Mangao station face suspension for procedural lapses in handling seized evidence. Led by SP Anchal Dalal, the department is cracking down on internal irregularities following a theft probe in Kolad.

During the operation, the team confiscated precious items but failed to record and deposit them adequately at Mangao police station. This breach of protocol triggered an immediate internal audit, resulting in the suspensions.

The list includes one sub-inspector and five constables: Avinash Patil, Pingale, Waghmode, Sondkar, Pahalkar, and Ambal, all from the crime investigation squad.

Dalal has launched a comprehensive inquiry, warning that additional personnel found culpable will not escape action. This follows a recent purge in Pen-Khopoli, highlighting a broader initiative to instill discipline and accountability.

The SP’s firm stance resonates widely: law enforcers must lead by example. As the probe deepens, it could reveal systemic issues, pushing for reforms in evidence management practices.

Public reaction has been positive, with calls for sustained vigilance. This episode reinforces the need for rigorous oversight in Maharashtra’s law enforcement, ensuring seized assets are handled with utmost care and transparency.
