Keshav Maurya Calls Muslim Women Quota Plea Appeasement Politics

Prayagraj buzzed with political rhetoric as UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya mounted a robust defense of BJP’s women-centric policies, simultaneously tearing into Akhilesh Yadav’s controversial demand for separate reservations for Muslim women. Labeling it ‘pure appeasement politics’ against the Constitution, Maurya used the platform to rally support for the ruling party’s vision.

Drawing from PM Modi’s Gujarat tenure, Maurya painted a picture of transformative governance. ‘Modi ji’s initiatives created the Gujarat model, focusing on women’s financial independence and social elevation through targeted programs,’ he explained. This blueprint has influenced national strategies.

The ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign, launched pre-2014 from Haryana, evolved into a nationwide success story. Maurya noted tangible outcomes like better child sex ratios and heightened awareness, crediting it with reshaping cultural norms around girl children.

Praising the 33% women’s quota in legislatures as a game-changer, he slammed opposition outfits—Congress, SP, TMC, DMK—for their historical inaction. ‘Their failures have fueled women’s resentment, which will cost them dearly at the polls,’ he predicted.

Maurya’s sharpest barbs were reserved for Akhilesh: ‘Separate quotas for Muslim women? That’s not empowerment; it’s vote-bank maneuvering.’ BJP plans grassroots outreach to highlight opposition’s betrayals on women’s issues. He accused the INDIA bloc of sabotaging reservation efforts in league with SP.

BJP’s track record under Modi speaks volumes—delivering on empowerment pledges without compromising constitutional integrity. SP’s extraconstitutional demands, he charged, erode democratic foundations and won’t fool the public.
