As geopolitical tensions simmer in West Asia, India’s Central government on Wednesday dismissed supply shortage fears for petrol, diesel, and LPG. Efforts by the DPIIT continue to support industries and secure supply chains nationwide.

The Petroleum Ministry’s update detailed proactive steps: enhanced kerosene storage, simplified LPG handling, and fresh LNG protocols. The DBT system’s 94% implementation in cylinder deliveries is a major step against hoarding and illegal trade.

Full domestic availability of LPG, PNG, and CNG remains assured. Over 20 lakh 5-kg FTL cylinders distributed since March 2026 have been a boon for migrant laborers, with supplies now doubled for better access.

PNG networks are expanding rapidly—5.10 lakh new connections live since March 2026, 2.56 lakh more infrastructure-ready, and 5.77 lakh registrations in pipeline. Incentives from companies and state-level accelerations are driving uptake.

The appeal is clear: avoid hoarding based on rumors; trust verified info. Promotion of PNG and electric alternatives is intensifying. On the evacuation front, 11.91 lakh Indians have returned since late February, backed by round-the-clock embassy support and helplines. Maritime safety is prioritized, exemplified by the safe passage of Indian tanker ‘Desh Garima’ carrying 31 sailors, due in Mumbai today.
