In a powerful display of diplomatic leadership, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi spoke at the third high-level session of the Global Common Development Action Forum held in Beijing on Wednesday. The event brought together global stakeholders to advance collaborative efforts for equitable development.
Marking a milestone, Wang Yi noted the fifth anniversary of President Xi Jinping’s Global Development Initiative. From its inception, the initiative has shifted from vision to reality through collective international endeavors. It has garnered widespread consensus, breathed new life into the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, and delivered substantial results worldwide.
China pledges to leverage this forum for mobilizing resources, strengthening development foundations, embracing peaceful pathways, and creating inclusive spaces for growth, Wang Yi declared. He reiterated Beijing’s enduring role as a pillar of support in global development endeavors.
Hosted by China’s National International Development Cooperation Agency under the banner of ‘Stay Action-Oriented, Build a Shared Future Community for Global Development,’ the summit saw participation from dignitaries like Presidents of Mozambique and Ghana, Pakistan’s Prime Minister, and top officials from Laos, Timor-Leste, and the United Nations. Over 140 entities engaged virtually and physically, fostering dialogue on critical issues.
The forum arrives at a crucial juncture, with rising inequalities and climate concerns demanding unified action. Wang Yi’s address not only reaffirmed China’s proactive stance but also called for renewed global solidarity, setting the stage for practical outcomes that could reshape international development paradigms.
