Madhya Pradesh’s Satna district is reeling from the savage killing of 11-year-old Shivraj Rajak, whose murderer was arrested Tuesday from Sidhi. The rapid police action has brought some relief, but questions linger over the motive.

Police sources reveal that Mathura Rajak, the accused, was nabbed after a coordinated chase involving three teams. ASP Shivesh Singh Baghel detailed how officers zeroed in on the suspect’s hometown, Sidhi, leading to his detention late evening.

Monday’s tragedy struck in Kolgawan when the Class 5 student was alone in his rented house. With family members away—mother at work, father in Nashik, siblings occupied—the intruder struck around 10:30 AM.

Wielding a sharp sickle, the killer slit the boy’s throat, causing instant death. In a bid to destroy evidence, he crammed the body into a blue drum, concealed it with garments, sealed the room, and escaped.

Suspicion arose when the mother returned at noon, noticed the locked door and absent son, shoes by the gate. Neighbors and relatives were summoned, and police arrived promptly.

Breaking into the fortified room, officers found blood-smeared walls and cushion, confirming the foul play. The drum revealed the mutilated remains.

Custodial questioning of the accused continues, as investigators piece together the timeline and intent. This heartbreaking case underscores the vulnerability of children left unattended, prompting calls for enhanced community vigilance and stricter safety measures.
