The political landscape in West Bengal heated up Monday as Delhi’s Chief Minister Rekha Gupta arrived in Kolkata to bolster BJP’s election campaign. Greeted by throngs of party supporters at the airport, her visit underscores BJP’s aggressive strategy in states it governs, deploying top leaders to sway voters.

In her first address to reporters, Gupta promised swift relief from the state’s turbulent politics. ‘The days of anarchy and endless squabbles are over. Bengal’s people will soon witness a brighter future,’ she proclaimed. She highlighted the long-standing culture of fear under TMC, which has left citizens disillusioned and desperate for change.

Targeting Mamata Banerjee directly, Gupta claimed the populace is yearning for liberation from misrule. ‘Bengal has chosen trust in BJP over TMC’s governance failures and intimidation. A BJP government means development, service, and true su-shasan,’ she stated.

Taking to X, Gupta shared the infectious enthusiasm of BJP workers, interpreting it as a harbinger of victory. ‘Airport vibes scream change—service, governance, and development start this May. Goodbye to Mamata Didi,’ her post read.

From Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma chimed in, forecasting BJP’s triumph. He defended the SIR process as essential housekeeping for voter lists, eliminating fake entries including those of Bangladeshi immigrants. ‘Why should the dead or duplicates vote? Everyone must support this,’ he said. Sarma also taunted TMC enforcers: ‘Attack all you want now; come May 4 evening, you’ll know where you stand. BJP’s rule is inevitable.’

With elections looming, these high-profile interventions signal BJP’s confidence in flipping Bengal’s narrative from despair to hope.
