Mumbai’s battle against drugs intensified with a record-breaking seizure of ecstasy pills valued at Rs 7 crore, leading to the arrest of a 36-year-old woman mastermind from Titwala. The Crime Branch’s Anti-Narcotics Cell executed a high-stakes raid, unearthing the biggest cache of MDMA tablets ever nabbed in one go.
The Ghatkopar team, tipped off by reliable sources, employed advanced tracking and stakeouts to zero in on the target’s residence. During the swoop, they recovered 4,056 pills totaling 2,030 grams, priced at Rs 5.07 crore in the black market. Adding a prior confiscation of 104 grams MDMA worth Rs 26 lakh, the cumulative bust hits Rs 7 crore.
The woman emerged as the linchpin of an intricate smuggling ring, supplying high-purity ecstasy to urban hotspots. ‘Her role was central; she managed procurement, storage, and distribution with precision,’ revealed police sources. The raid’s success stemmed from months of groundwork, including digital forensics and informant networks.
This triumph bolsters Mumbai’s anti-drug campaign, which has ramped up amid rising substance abuse among the young. Officials are interrogating the accused to map out suppliers and buyers, vowing to eradicate the racket. Community leaders praised the vigilance, urging sustained efforts to safeguard the city’s youth from narcotic perils.
With nightlife venues under scrutiny, this haul signals zero tolerance. Police assure more such operations, aiming to choke supply lines and rehabilitate victims in a multi-pronged strategy.
