In a remarkable show of enthusiasm, more than 2,600 innovators have registered for the Ayushman Bharat Auto-Adjudication Hackathon 2026, as revealed by the National Health Authority on Monday. With applications closing today, April 13, this event is set to transform how health claims are processed under the flagship Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.
AB PM-JAY, a cornerstone of India’s healthcare landscape, processes around 50,000 claims every day spanning over 1,900 treatment packages. Yet, auto-adjudication rates hover at just 15-20%, signaling a clear gap that technology can bridge. The hackathon calls on brilliant minds to develop AI-powered tools, fraud prevention mechanisms, standardized docs, and instant verification protocols.
By automating claim adjudication, participants can drive unprecedented improvements in speed, precision, and openness. Registration remains open until midnight today on the dedicated portal, inviting students, developers, startups, researchers, and experts to join the fray.
NHA is going all out to support entrants with a trio of masterclasses kicking off today. Scheduled for April 13, 15, and 16 between 2 PM and 4 PM, these sessions will unpack the intricacies of claim systems and guide solution crafting.
The competition culminates in a high-stakes offline finale on May 8-9 at Bengaluru’s prestigious Indian Institute of Science. Finalists will pitch to a panel of healthcare, tech, and policy luminaries, vying for prizes worth ₹5 lakh, ₹3 lakh, and ₹2 lakh per challenge, plus NHA partnership prospects.
This hackathon is a pivotal step in strengthening AB PM-JAY’s digital backbone, paving the way for more reliable, transparent, and efficient health services for the nation.
