In a sweeping reform, Bihar’s fiery opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav dismantled the RJD’s old student wing, birthing the Socialist Students Association of India (SSAI) with ambitions to span the entire nation. The announcement, made on April 13 in Patna, underscores a commitment to Supreme Court-mandated student election norms via the Lyngdoh Committee.
No longer will ‘Student RJD’ operate; its successor, SSAI, pledges to drive educational reforms and combat social inequalities. As RJD’s dedicated student arm, it aims to vigorously protect youth interests everywhere.
Yadav didn’t hold back on Bihar’s rulers. He charged that Nitish Kumar’s exit leaves an empty treasury after two decades of NDA mismanagement that stunted growth in key sectors. Bihar, he noted, wears the tag of India’s most impoverished state.
On the Chief Minister shuffle, Yadav dismissed the successor as illegitimate, lacking the people’s vote since the NDA betrayed its poll promise. ‘Those chasing Nitish now will be forgotten in two months,’ he quipped, slamming the regime for prioritizing chair-thievery over citizen needs, with JD(U) reduced to BJP’s appendage.
This strategic pivot could reshape student activism, injecting fresh socialist vigor into RJD’s youth outreach.
