A new era of comfortable rail travel dawns between Mumbai and Bengaluru, thanks to the newly approved Vande Bharat Sleeper train. Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis shared the exciting news on X, thanking PM Narendra Modi and Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for their support.
This premium overnight service will operate from CSMT Mumbai to KSR Bengaluru, revolutionizing connectivity for millions. Business professionals, families, and tourists stand to benefit from reduced travel fatigue and time savings.
Traditional routes demand a grueling 22-24 hour haul via trains like Udyan Express. In contrast, the Vande Bharat will complete the journey in a swift 13-15 hours, powered by advanced technology on optimized tracks.
Railway officials are finalizing the path via Pune, Solapur, Kalaburagi, and Wadi. The 1,136 km Kalaburagi route, fully electrified, promises smoother and quicker runs.
The train’s design prioritizes luxury with 16 air-conditioned coaches: 11 for AC 3-tier, 4 for AC 2-tier, and a premium AC First Class with hot water shower facilities for 823 passengers total.
Government sources indicate this move enhances India’s rail infrastructure, fostering stronger links between financial and tech hubs. Passengers can look forward to ergonomic seating, modern berths, and efficient services.
As India expands its Vande Bharat fleet, this sleeper variant addresses the demand for overnight high-speed options. CM Fadnavis called it a ‘game-changer,’ underscoring its role in making travel faster, safer, and more enjoyable.
