Congress MLAs Rally in Delhi for Karnataka Cabinet Expansion Push

Pressure is mounting on the Karnataka Congress leadership for a much-anticipated cabinet reshuffle, with around 15 MLAs making their way to Delhi for strategic discussions. The group convened at Karnataka Bhavan, where they deliberated on injecting new blood into the ministry.

According to insiders, the meeting saw lawmakers sign a memorandum advocating for more ministerial slots and better regional representation. With the government completing three years, the timing feels ripe for changes to sustain momentum and reward loyalists.

Virajpet MLA and CM’s legal aide AS Ponnanna defended the initiative, calling it a natural part of governance. “Senior MLAs have long voiced this through letters, including one I signed,” he said, recounting recent meetings with the Chief Minister during the assembly session.

Ponnanna clarified that while MLAs hinted at approaching the high command, details on follow-ups remain unclear. He stressed that such demands are democratic and not rebellious, with the ultimate call lying with party bosses, Siddaramaiah, and Shivakumar.

“If reshuffle happens, Kodagu should get a spot,” he added, highlighting district-specific needs. The legislators intend to meet Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge to formalize their pitch.

This internal maneuvering reflects the party’s effort to balance experience with fresh perspectives. A well-timed expansion could bolster unity, address grievances, and position Congress strongly against opposition challenges in the state.
