Delay in Kerala Poll Data Sparks Congress Outrage

Kerala’s political corridors are buzzing with discontent as Congress opposition leader V.D. Satheesan fires off a strongly worded missive to the Chief Election Commissioner. The bone of contention? A glaring delay in uploading detailed election statistics from the April 9 Assembly polls, despite three days having elapsed since voting ended.

In his Monday communication to the press, Satheesan demanded urgent corrective measures to restore transparency. Key data points like booth-level turnout, constituency breakdowns, and postal votes remain absent from the EC’s portal, he noted, calling it a breach of public trust.

‘This information is indispensable for maintaining faith in the electoral machinery,’ Satheesan asserted, cautioning that delays could fuel doubts amid the high-stakes race for 140 seats. Counting is slated for May 4, amplifying the urgency.

Kerala once again showcased its democratic vigor with 78.03% of 27.1 crore voters exercising their franchise—women at a stellar 80.86%, men at 75.01%, and third-gender at 57.04%. Yet, this triumph is overshadowed by the data drought.

The controversy underscores deeper questions about electoral accountability. As tensions simmer, the EC faces mounting pressure to release the full dataset promptly, potentially shaping narratives ahead of results and reinforcing Kerala’s poll legacy.
