Tamil Nadu Weather: South Sees Rain Chance, North Faces Heat Spike

Relief is on the horizon for southern Tamil Nadu as the IMD forecasts light to moderate rain in districts like Kanyakumari and Tirunelveli, while the state’s interior parts gear up for escalating temperatures.

The weather outlook for Monday highlights possible showers in isolated spots across southern regions and Western Ghats areas. This much-needed precipitation comes amid prolonged hot weather, potentially cooling things down briefly for locals.

Most of Tamil Nadu, however, will remain dry, as will neighboring Puducherry, with no rain in sight.

Interior districts face a temperature uptick, with highs potentially climbing 2-3°C higher soon, making afternoons particularly sweltering. Coastal belts, including Chennai, should see little change in mercury levels, but soaring humidity will amplify the discomfort.

Chennai’s forecast includes partial cloud cover, daytime highs of 36-37°C, and nighttime lows near 27°C. Expect a sticky, humid atmosphere without significant rainfall.

Fishermen can continue operations without special warnings, as sea conditions appear calm.

Health experts and officials recommend heat safety measures for inland residents: hydrate frequently, limit sun exposure between noon and 4 PM, and monitor for heat-related symptoms. With climate patterns shifting, such mixed weather signals underscore the importance of preparedness across Tamil Nadu.
