Bulandshahr police scored a major victory late Sunday night by capturing Vinod Sharma, a fugitive carrying a Rs 50,000 reward declared in 2009. The high-stakes encounter in Anupshahr began during a surveillance check at the local bus stand by SWAT and local officers.
Spotting a suspicious biker, the team signaled him to halt. Instead, he accelerated towards Sambhal Road, losing control near a graveyard and tumbling off his vehicle. In desperation, Sharma fired at the pursuing officers, who responded with precision fire, wounding him in the leg.
The seasoned offender, hailing from Jakheta village, confessed his identity during questioning. His rap sheet is alarming: more than eight FIRs for heinous crimes like murder, topped by his 2007 jailbreak from court custody—a case still pending at Nagar Kotwali.
Seized items included a tamancha (improvised gun), three rounds of ammo, and the getaway bike. Now under medical care with stable vitals, Sharma’s arrest ends years of evasion. Key players in the raid were CO Vikas Chauhan, SHO Dharmendra Sharma, Rajveer Singh, Harsh Mishra, and SWAT’s Mohammad Aslam.
This operation underscores the relentless pursuit of justice in Uttar Pradesh, bolstering public safety and sending a strong message to other wanted criminals lurking in the shadows.
