Horror struck Hapur’s Dhaulana area early Monday when a bridegroom’s bus returning from a wedding crashed into a truck, resulting in six fatalities and seven injuries. The accident occurred on the busy Kapoorpura-Dhaulana highway, turning celebration into catastrophe.
Loaded with guests from Ghaziabad’s Dasna headed back to Bulandshahar’s Gulawati after the marriage event, the bus veered out of control at high speed. It collided violently with a Hydra truck, which flipped over onto the passenger vehicle, burying occupants under tons of metal and rubble.
Onlookers recounted the heart-wrenching scene: cries for help amid twisted wreckage as bystanders and first responders fought to free the victims. The bus was completely destroyed, complicating extrication efforts that lasted hours.
Alerted swiftly, Hapur Superintendent of Police Kunwar Gyananjay Singh mobilized forces from multiple stations. Rescue teams worked tirelessly, transferring bodies for post-mortem and ferrying the wounded to Rama Medical College, GS Medical College, and local health centers.
In his briefing, SP Singh noted, ‘The bus from a Gulawati wedding overturned after impact. We’ve lost six lives, with seven under care—their conditions are improving.’ Speeding remains the suspected culprit, prompting calls for stricter enforcement on these perilous stretches.
As investigations continue, this incident underscores the urgent need for better road infrastructure and driver awareness, particularly during peak wedding seasons when such processions overload highways.
