In a significant boost to public transport, Uttar Pradesh’s cabinet has greenlit the redevelopment of 49 major UPSRTC bus stations. Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh revealed that these hubs will be equipped with digital technologies to prioritize passenger safety, as stated during a Sunday briefing.
Operating on a PPP and DBFO-T model, the project sidesteps direct government expenditure through private funding. The stations will undergo comprehensive upgrades to meet global benchmarks, including enhanced hygiene, surveillance systems, and real-time digital displays for schedules and alerts.
‘Clean facilities, top-tier security, and smart infrastructure will define these new stations,’ Singh noted. Integrated parking solutions, retail spaces, and eco-friendly designs will support long-term sustainability. Land remains under UPSRTC control, ensuring public interest alignment.
The minister praised CM Yogi Adityanath’s vision, predicting job creation, economic stimulation, and smoother urban mobility. Travelers will benefit from reliable, safe journeys with modern amenities like lounges and information kiosks.
With tenders on the horizon, conducted transparently, these terminals aim to become vibrant multi-purpose centers. This move positions Uttar Pradesh as a leader in innovative transport infrastructure, promising safer roads and happier commuters.
