Mumbai: Concerns over cooking gas shortages have been firmly dispelled by the government, which reported delivery of more than 52.3 lakh LPG cylinders nationwide on Saturday. Speaking on Sunday, officials emphasized that supplies are plentiful, with zero complaints of depleted stocks from any distributor.

PNG infrastructure expansion is accelerating, with gas flowing to over 4.24 lakh connections activated post-March 2026. Registration for new links has crossed 4.66 lakh, reflecting growing reliance on piped natural gas.

Targeted drives for 5-kg cylinders among migrant laborers have gained momentum. Companies held 3,300+ awareness camps in eight days, distributing 35,800 units. Weekend sales hit 1 lakh+, a sharp rise from February’s 77,000 monthly average.

Cumulative sales since late March exceed 13 lakh 5-kg cylinders. Commercial sector supply remains at 70% of baseline levels, aided by enhanced allocations. Recent figures show 1,20,898 MT sold since mid-March 2026, matching 63.6 lakh 19-kg equivalents.

All refineries are humming at peak output, backed by healthy crude inventories. Petrol and diesel reserves are secure, while LPG output for homes has been scaled up significantly.

As India navigates global energy pressures, these measures underscore a commitment to uninterrupted fuel availability for millions of households.
