In a fiery broadside from New Delhi, senior BJP spokesperson Shah Nawaz Hussain has charged the Congress with plotting to disenfranchise India’s women through its resistance to the Women’s Reservation Bill. Labeling it a betrayal of the nation’s ‘aadhi abadi,’ Hussain called out the opposition’s tactics in no uncertain terms.

Speaking candidly, he urged Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge to endorse the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’ rather than foment division. ‘This act, now enshrined in law, was meant for cooperation, not confusion. Congress is misleading communities instead,’ Hussain remarked.

With a special parliamentary session slated for three days, PM Modi’s outreach letter to opposition figures sets the stage for consensus. Yet, Hussain decried Congress’s approach: ‘Their behavior is regrettable. Should national imperatives bow to election calendars? This bill transcends polls—it’s about empowering women.’

He painted a stark picture: Congress’s opposition equates to robbing half of India its democratic due, a stance he deemed tragic.

On another front, responding to Mamata Banerjee’s UCC critique, Hussain highlighted its existing prevalence in states like Goa and Uttarakhand. ‘It’s a manifesto promise we’ll honor in full when in power,’ he affirmed.

Hussain also expressed deep grief over Asha Bhosle’s death. ‘Asha ji was a musical genius and a beautiful human being, full of affection. Her legacy endures; her loss devastates us all,’ he shared, reflecting on her unparalleled contributions to Indian music.
