The detailed administrative order sets office timings at 9 AM to 5:30 PM daily, encompassing 8 hours and 30 minutes of duty, including a recommended 30-minute lunch from 1 to 1:30 PM to minimize workflow disruptions.
Building on prior circulars, this policy uses Aadhaar-linked biometrics for precise tracking. Amid pleas for leniency citing Delhi’s notorious traffic jams and transport issues, DU has introduced a measured approach. Employees clocking in between 9:10 AM and 9:30 AM can make up time by extending their day, ensuring the quota is met.
But cross the 9:30 AM threshold, and consequences are severe: half or full day’s leave will be slashed from accounts. The university vows zero tolerance, directing department heads and deans to monitor compliance closely. This overhaul responds to observations of inconsistent attendance in several offices, aiming to elevate productivity and set a precedent for accountability.
