This nationwide rollout, spearheaded by NHAI, follows a preparatory phase where drivers were nudged toward digital wallets. Exemptions apply temporarily in poll-bound states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam, West Bengal, and Puducherry, respecting electoral guidelines.
