In a heart-stopping incident at Kaptan Bridge in Purnia, a young woman’s suicide attempt was thwarted by a courageous citizen. The woman, reportedly a resident of Purnia City, jumped into the Saura River after a fight with her boyfriend. While many onlookers remained on the bridge recording the scene on their smartphones, an e-rickshaw driver named Pintu Alam jumped into the water to save her life.
The sequence of events began near Kala Bhavan, where the couple was seen arguing. Following the dispute, the woman hired an e-rickshaw to reach the bridge. Upon arrival, she paid the driver and climbed over the railing. Pintu Alam, who was nearby, witnessed the jump and realized the woman was drowning. He successfully managed to swim against the current to rescue her and bring her back to land. Emergency services reached the spot within minutes of the rescue.
