Rajasthan’s vigilance against corruption intensified as the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Karauli unit seized Rs 3.70 lakh in unaccounted cash from Assistant Engineer Mahendra Singh during a targeted operation in Baran district. The Saturday raid, prompted by precise intelligence, marks another victory in the bureau’s crusade against official misconduct.

Deployed at Anta Nagar Palika, Singh was under watch after ACB headquarters received confirmed reports of his illicit cash stash. He was en route to Hindaun City, his native place in Karauli, when the trap sprung.

Led by Inspector Jagdish Bhardwaj and monitored by DIG (ACB) Dr. Rameshwar Singh, the team intercepted Singh on Biyana Road for a surprise inspection. The cash recovery left him speechless, with no valid source or paperwork to justify it.

DG Govind Gupta detailed how informant tips triggered the swift action. Now, under the Prevention of Corruption Act, ACB is grilling Singh to trace if the funds tie back to bribes or power misuse.

Senior officers ADG Smita Srivastava and S. Parimala are directing the inquiry, which includes forensic audits of bank records, transaction verifications, and reviews of his departmental performance.

The bureau reaffirmed its pledge to eradicate corruption through regular, unannounced raids. This incident not only nets tainted money but also bolsters public trust in clean governance.

With Rajasthan battling systemic graft, such high-stakes interventions could deter wrongdoers and pave the way for ethical public service delivery.
