According to Qatar’s Foreign Ministry, Sheikh Mohammed endorsed the ceasefire wholeheartedly, calling it a critical juncture to halt deteriorating conditions. He stressed protecting sea lanes, guaranteeing free passage for vessels, and adhering to global trade standards—elements indispensable for stability and uninterrupted worldwide supply chains.
Gratitude was extended to Britain for its support and defense partnerships. Starmer echoed this sentiment, advocating for the ceasefire’s evolution into a solid peace framework to ensure security across the region.

Earlier in Abu Dhabi, Starmer’s talks with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed focused on mourning Iranian attack victims, rejecting civilian targeting, and committing to turn the ceasefire into enduring peace. Restoring Strait of Hormuz traffic was deemed essential to shield international commerce.
