With the Char Dham Yatra set to commence on April 19, Uttarkashi officials are in full swing, prioritizing pilgrim safety and comfort. Friday saw Chief Development Officer Jai Bharat Singh leading an extensive field review of the vital 6-kilometer trek to Yamunotri Dham from Janki Chatti, as instructed by DM Prashant Arya.

Joined by legislator Sanjay Dobhal and departmental heads, the inspection covered essentials like potable water, sanitation facilities, power backup, protective shelters, and guardrails. Departments received firm directives to eliminate any shortcomings and guarantee seamless service delivery.

Cleanliness drives were a focal point, with orders to Sulabh International and local bodies for round-the-clock upkeep of pathways and lavatories. Pilgrim health posts and rescue squads from SDRF are to stay vigilant, alongside provisions for mule operators including feeding troughs and hydration points.

To prevent confusion, prominent signboards and directional panels are being installed. Final touches are being applied to registration counters, access routes, and support infrastructure at halt points.

In a parallel effort, the CDO evaluated community-run shops in Barkot, Dobata, and Kharadi regions, advocating for enhanced standards in local goods to stimulate economic growth.

These comprehensive checks reflect a robust strategy to host lakhs of devotees hassle-free, blending devotion with modern amenities for an unforgettable yatra experience.
