Raipur April 10, 2026/Addressing the All India Health Sciences Vice Chancellor Meet-2026 organized at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Memorial Health Sciences and AYUSH University in Nava Raipur, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai described it as a historic and proud occasion for the state. He warmly welcomed the Vice Chancellors, academicians, and students from across the country to the holy land of Chhattisgarh, the maternal home of Lord Shri Ram.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that through this one-day conference, organized for the first time, there will be a wide exchange of innovations in health education and the medical sector, which will prove to be an important milestone in the coming time. He expressed confidence that the ideas emerging from this platform will not only guide policy making but will also be helpful in delivering better health services to the general public.
Chief Minister said that the state government has made remarkable progress in the health sector in the last two years. The construction work of five new medical colleges, 14 nursing colleges, and one homeopathy college is in progress in the state. He said that healthy citizens are the foundation of developed Chhattisgarh, and with this perspective, continuous work is being done on the expansion and quality improvement of health services.
While mentioning the efforts to strengthen health services in the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the assistance of up to Rs 5 lakh to poor families under the Ayushman Bharat scheme is proving to be a boon for them. He said that earlier villagers had to face difficult situations like taking loans or selling land for the treatment of serious diseases, but now this situation is rapidly changing and confidence in health services has increased.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that diseases like diabetes and cancer, which were previously considered limited to a certain class, are now spreading rapidly in rural areas as well. To deal with this challenge, initiatives like “Arogya Mandir” are being undertaken by the central government, with the aim of making people aware of a healthy lifestyle. He said that the central government has decided to establish three Ayurvedic AIIMS in the country.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that about 44 percent of the state’s area is forested, which is extremely rich in medicinal plants. In this context, he expressed pride in Shri Hemchand Manjhi receiving the Padma Shri award in the field of Ayurveda and said that people come from abroad for the treatment of serious diseases like cancer.
Chief Minister mentioned the rapid expansion of health infrastructure in the state and said that a Medicity Hub is being developed in the capital region, under which a super specialty hospital with 5000 beds will be established. This will provide world-class medical facilities to the people of the state. He also informed that more than a dozen private hospitals have been inaugurated in Raipur during his tenure.
Referring to India’s rich knowledge tradition, the Chief Minister said that our country has been blessed with great educational centers like Nalanda, Taxila, and Vikramshila and has been established as a world guru in both medicine and spirituality. Describing Ayurveda as a Veda of the Rigveda, he said that the spirit of “Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah” has always been present in Indian culture.
Highlighting India’s achievements during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the country has not only ensured the safety of its 140 crore citizens by developing three types of vaccines but has also demonstrated humanity on a global level by assisting other countries.
Chief Minister Shri Sai called upon doctors to maintain sensitivity along with a spirit of service, giving them the most important place in society after God. He expressed confidence that this conference will pave new paths in the health sector and its positive results will reach the general public.
In his address, Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, many challenges in the health sector have been successfully resolved. He said that Hindi medium facility has been started as an innovation in medical education, and health services will become more effective in the future with the use of technology and artificial intelligence. He called upon doctors to work with a spirit of service and sensitivity.
Health Minister said that health facilities have been extensively expanded in the state, including 5 new medical colleges, 14 nursing colleges, and 2 mental hospitals, and 275 state-of-the-art ambulances have been made available. He informed that the work of health screening of 36 lakh people and construction of Ayushman cards under the Chief Minister Bastar Health Scheme will start in Sukma from April 13.
In his address, MP Shri Brijmohan Agrawal said that after the end of the Naxal problem, Chhattisgarh will move rapidly towards development. He emphasized on providing better health services to rural areas. He said that suggestions received from this conference will be sent to the AYUSH Ministry and this event will play an inspiring role in the expansion of health services. He also extended best wishes for the success of the event.
On this occasion, MLA Shri Indrakumar Sahu, MLA Shri Purandar Mishra, Special Invitees Dr. Ved Prakash Mishra, President of Bharatiya Swasthya Vidyapeeth Dr. Rajiv Sood, and Vice Chancellor of AYUSH University Dr. Pradeep Kumar Patra, along with many dignitaries, were present.
